Companies can help us with our mission; that every child is provided with resources that cultivate growth, discovery, and creative thinking. Show monetary support by providing all children with Journey Art boxes to enhance virtual learning this year.

Help us reach all children.

According to the study “Arts Education in Public Elementary and Secondary Schools: 1999-2000 and 2009-10” by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), a part of the U.S. Department of Education, there is a noticeable “equity gap” between the availability of arts instruction in high-poverty and low-poverty schools. It was found that students in more affluent neighborhoods receive more, and higher quality, art experiences than their peers in low-income neighborhoods. As stated in the study, in 2009-10, visual arts were offered in 92 percent of schools with the lowest poverty concentration and only 83 percent of schools with the highest poverty concentration as determined by the percent of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.

One of the core values at Wonderment is our belief in the importance of fostering creativity by allowing children to freely explore their own artistic expression.

According to the American Art Therapy Association, children who are encouraged to express themselves through art may see a decrease in anxiety, feelings of anger, and depression. And at a time when children are glued to their screens, feeling a sense of isolation from peers, and facing an increase in school, familial, and societal pressures, the benefits of art education, connectivity, and creativity become more and more critical for this generation. Studies show that art has the power to calm the body and the mind, reduce stress, and improve self-esteem which all lead to bettering children’s mental health and well-being.

Additionally, art:

  • Inspires non-linear “out of the box” thinking

  • Offers a deeper way to communicate with self and others

  • Creates a connection and builds community

  • Boosts self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth

  • Becomes a vehicle in which to understand and express feelings and emotions

  • Encourages self-identify

  • Supports decision making, problem-solving, and risk-taking

  • Allows us to make sense of the world

We are committed to using 100% of your company’s monetary support towards putting Art Journey boxes directly in the hands of children in need. We are partnering with art teachers in Columbus City School District to provide our Art Journey Boxes to students. Our art boxes contain curriculum and resources designed for distance learning that follows the common core standards.

“If you want to make students happy, expose them to art. Through this, they will be the best citizens and innovators.”

- Giora Carmi – Art Therapist and Illustrator

"I have many students who do not have art supplies at home so our virtual art classes are very limited
to drawing with optional color addition because I cannot assume that my kids have crayons, colored pencils, markers. Any donations we receive will enhance our virtual art experience exponentially."

- Jessica Downin, Art Teacher,        Columbus City Schools
